Join us on January 10, 2012! Our guest will be Craig Newmark, founder of craigconnects.org and Craigslist. Craig will talk about technology for the common good. RSVP now and come ready to learn about the latest info and best ways to use technology for the common good and to reach your nonprofit organization's goals. Questions need to be about the subject of the talk.  No Craigslist questions please.

Regina caught up with Craig in New York, NY on November 17th at the NextGen:Charity conference, and he recorded a quick greeting for the SFNetSquared community. Check it out here: Craig Newmark Greets SFNetSquared

Here is a link to a couple of infographics that Craig has made on nonprofits and social media.

Most of the attendees were very nice and happy to be there. Our guest was chatty and warm. He took the time to talk to people after his talk and the Q&A. Turn out was good. Plus, by the end of the event the snacks were gone. That's always good! The goal is to keep the momentum going!

Craig has a fabulous, dry sense of humor and obviously a very big heart. It was great to hear him talk about the inception and growth of craigslist, his current philanthropic priorities, and keeping the focus on doing what you love, whatever it is.

++ Great idea, great that he took the time to share it w/the group,
->-> I would have liked to have heard more about specific ways in which Craig Connects is doing for the groups they work with.

Smart and funny. I enjoyed how real and practical his point of view was.

I enjoyed some of the talk for Craig's anecdotal stories and context, but unfortunately didn't find much else that engaging or interesting.

Interesting talk but I thought it could have been more directed towards motivating others to use technology for the common good.

Any options available for a larger venue so more people can attend in person?

What I'm hoping is folks who can't make it (hint, hint) remove themselves from the list. I switched it to a manual wait list so that folks get an alert that a spot has opened up. However, with so many people waiting, not everyone is going to be able to attend. :( I hope you get in. If you don't we're live streaming it and we'll have a Twitter chat going too. Just track the #sfn2 hashtag during the event.

I spoke to Craig today to confirm some details. I just wanted to check in to say I'm very excited and look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday. Bring your laptops, smartphones and tablets, and be ready to tweet. We'll be launching our new hashtag during the event too.

If you know you can't make it, please change your RSVP. We've got over 50 people on the wait list. Please be considerate of your fellow SFN2 members. Thanks. :)

Get yourself on the wait list! We're working to see if we can find a larger venue for this event. If it happens, we'll open up more spots!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
