Come learn more about and how you you can get involved designing a better world via the HCD Connect platform! is focused on spreading human-centered design through the social sector and improving the lives of people in low-income communities across the globe.

As part of this mission, recently launched HCD Connect, an online platform where human-centered designers working on challenges in low-income communities can share their experiences, ask questions, and connect with others working in similar geographic areas or on similarly focused projects. HCD Connect was built by with support from IDEO and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and was created as a response to great interest in the HCD Toolkit, a free resource designed for organizations and individuals who want to use design methodology to innovate and solve problems in the social sector.

Presenter bio:
Sean Hewens is the Knowledge Manager & In-House Counsel at In his role as Knowledge Manager, Sean guides's open project model and its initiatives to spread human-centered design throughout the social sector. Sean joined after two years as the executive director of a small Boston-based nonprofit combining technology education and cultural preservation training in Eastern Africa. He also co-founded a social enterprise repatriating hipster t-shirts from Africa. Prior to entering the social sector, Sean worked as a corporate attorney for four years. Sean holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University and a law degree from Georgetown.

    Just saw your comment BJ. TechSoup Global is just a couple of blocks from CalTrain, so if you can get to the station nearest you in Palo Alto/Mountain View, that could be another way to get to TechSoup. Hope you find a ride.
