We are so excited to be co-hosting July's event with the wonderful folks at Code for America. Their July CfA Salon features Eric Lui and Nick Hanauer, authors of the acclaimed and highly relevant, Gardens of Democracy. The book argues that since society and technology have fundamentally changed, so must our notions of citizenship and democracy: from the metaphor of a machine to a garden.
We are thrilled to host them at Code for America on July 10th for a small, candid conversation, and hope that you can join us: http://cfasalonjuly.eventbrite.com/

Each time you tweet or re-tweet about the event, or share on Facebook; you'll get an entry into a raffle for one of 3 copies. We'll award the winners on July 5th.
Was told at intro lots of time to be saved for Q&A.
Sat in front role, raised my hand from start to finish, but was not choosen (maybe allowed) to ask burning question why both authors in both books, The True Patriot and Gardens of Democracy support return to a military draft with additional Federal authority to draft youth into community service projects? See T.P. pg 77, G. of D. pg 63 & 149. Having a 33 year interest in a voluntary Natl Youth Service System with enhanced feedback for local but nation-wide debate, thier approach seems extreme. Strange that Code for America would endorse such a proposal? Did get a great photo with them, shared my info, but they seemed to be on a ego trip of a short. Did also have a brief talk with Tim O'Rielly about living close by, desire to treat him to lunch. Hope he, Eric and Nick provide some much needed feedback. PJ P.S. Strange when reality provides the truth, less trust, that the Q&A is the shortess part of the program, answers are long.
