Frequently we are approached by other groups or individuals who are working on an upcoming event that they feel would be of interest to SF Net2 members and request that we share that information with the group. We are always excited to see other groups tackling the issues and projects at the intersection of technology and social progress but are simply not able to message the SF Net2 group each time we're contacted. While we are happy to spread the word on your event, we simply will not fill up our member's emails with multiple messages a month. As a result, we've put a policy in place to handle these requests.
We will gladly include notices about upcoming Partner events via monthly mailing to our group. Partners are people we have worked with in the past or present - previous/future speakers, groups that we've collaborated with, active members, etc. If you've joined the NetSquared group just to request we share your message, it's not going to get emailed out. We don't know who you are, so for all intents we'd just be passing along spam. (Sorry if it sounds harsh, but please understand we must protect our members first.) You're welcome to post information about your group/event to the group discussions board.
We hope you can respect and understand these guidelines. By no means are we closed off to outside events and groups; we encourage all activity in this space. But as our membership base grows larger we're finding a need for some method to the madness. :)
