Hello!

Well, the votes are in and the next SF New Tech Meetup will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006!

We'll have 4 demos, as well as drinks and food courtesy of the SF-based law firm of Jacobs & Ferraro. Jacobs & Ferraro, LLP is a full-service business law firm specializing in the representation of emerging technology and digital media companies, licensing, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions and complex litigation. •  I think it was great. Some time allocated for networking in the beginning and middle would be great.
    •  Might be nice to have a little more informal time to speak w/people before presentations begin.
    •  beer and pizza - eggcellent. perhaps more beer and more pitza next time. if money is an issue for food/beer, put up a banner/sign of our sponsors, or list them on the handouts/website. one thing that can be improved is to have some background music going, and a handout(s) about what's going on this night. the handouts would be clutch, for several reasons, not the least of which would be branding for this meetup, but also to help persist these companies in folks' heads. i'd like to have some dead tree foldup in my pocket so i can review notes i may have taken, or just look back over names, company profiles, etc. lots of good reasons to have a handout. other plus of music is to create a welcoming atmosphere to help people start talking. almost nobody was talking there. to me, networking is at least 1/2 of what these types of events are supposed to be about. plus, we're geeks - we don't talk naturally - so do everything we can to foster it.
    •  I know there was a microphone available tonight though no one chose to use it. I would recommend the speakers and those in the audience asking questions use the microphone next time as it was hard to hear some of the discussions and presentations. Could have been where I was sitting, but I think several folks felt the same way.
