This month, we've got four great Bay Area companies lined up to strut their stuff for y'all at the next SF New Tech Meetup! Without any further ado, here's the line up for the 11/1 SF New Tech Meetup: 1) Bart Myers from GUBA, one of the first platforms for sharing and consuming user generated content, is going to show us firsthand what everyone has been talking about. (http://www.guba.com...) 2) Veronica Belmont will wow us with the latest and greatest from CNET TV. (http://www.cnettv.com...) 3) Jessica Hardwick will show us what's up with the increasingly popular community-driven swapping site SWAPTHING. (http://www.swapthing....) 4) Alf Watt, one of my oldest SF buddies, has been working on his revolutionary wireless discovery tool for Mac for a long time and he's excited to share it with us. It's called ISTUMBLER and it's pretty damn cool. (http://istumbler.com...) We'll also have our 60 Soapbox spots again, so step on up if you'd like to put a request out to the room, promote yourself/product, find a job, seek help or money -- you name it, the floor is yours for 60 seconds. Thanks to all our sponsors: - Jacobs & Ferraro, LLP (http://www.jacobsferr...) for the beer and snacks. - The Forbin Group (http://www.theforbing...) for the pizza. (Yes!) - FutureWorks PR (http://www.future-wor...) for the wine. - ... and, of course, Joel Sacks and CNET for the space! ** YOU MUST RSVP TO ATTEND THIS THIS EVENT ** DO IT NOW: http://newtech.meetup... See you in a few weeks! Cheers, Myles Weissleder Organizer, SF New Tech Meetup

Too long, too many questions the questions should be be asked after the presentations are over.

11/1: With the web 2 .0 conference in a few weeks, perhaps the group can snag a few of those folks to come and chat. Besides companies presenting, is it wit hin the scope to have folks talk about web 2.0 concepts and metrics. There has been this big discussion about how to measure web 2.0 features...page views, users or time on site. It would be interesting to hear how different folks treat this issue.

Boring advertising-style presos, overly hot room

Great event. Well organized and focused. Project demos were concise. Seemed like many people stayed after the meeting and were reluctant to leave which is an indication they were getting something out of it.

I like the mix of scheduled guests / presenters, as well as 60-second speels.

I forgot to mention it during the 60 second spots, but thought up during a great conversation after the presentations last month: http://dugg.benjaminhill.info/ (Sites that have recovered from the slashdot effect)

Thanks to whomever I was talking with last month for the ideas that led to this!

Good crowd, decent space. Excellent beer, because it was free. By all means feel free to put up a "brought to you by" note nearby the table, I wouldn't mind knowing whom to thank. The first couple presentations were good, some later on were more of a VC slideshow. I guess in this town and in this setting that can be expected, though. Overall good time.

This was the first New Tech meetup I've attended and I was impressed. Very well organized. Would have liked more demo action during the swapthing presentation.
