This is a great first timer's Historical & Wine hike. Only about 3 miles. We will meet at the historic General Vallejo's Home (parking lot) in Sonoma, just off the historic town square.
A few other groups will be joining us so we anticipate 12-25 on this hike! (don't go by our meetup attendee list only!)
Our trek starts from this point. We will wind high up & over the town of Sonoma. The views are serene. Our hike back takes us thru the old, old cemetary. ***There is a grave here that has the oldest person buried in Ca. during the revolutioary war of 1775.
We will then hike to the Vallejo home & have a picnic by the reservoir with friendly fish & turtles. A tour of the home & grounds follows.
After this we will head into Sonoma town square area for wine tasting including some barrel tasting, more historical sights & optional shopping. There's almost always something happening at the town square.
If time & your palate will permit, there will be plenty of wine to sample & purchase on this fun & interesting outing. We have a cool watering hole to eat at for any who wish after the events of the day. (Great food too)
