as i mentioned at the meeting last week, Silicon Valley CodeCamp is
this coming weekend!! it's a free local technical conference with free
food & drink, doesn't involve (much) travel, and you don't have to
take time off of work, so what's not to love (except you consuming
your precious wknd)?!?
it's getting full fast, so register quickly:
there are many Python-flavored talks:
i've even organized an entire track for Google technologies:
since the whole thing is done in a "barcamp"-style fashion, it's very
much a grassroots effort still, so if you have some cycles, please
volunteer (see msg below) to help too! then you'll feel much better
about getting so much valuable information at the event... plus you
get a free "staff" t-shirt to show off! :-)
cheers, and see you there!

Subject: We Need Volunteers for Silicon Valley Code Camp!
SVCC needs your help. ?This year's event is bigger and better than
ever and we need more helping hands to make things run smoothly.
Volunteering has so many benefits, the chance to meet and work with
others like you, that feeling of goodness knowing you are contributing
to an all-volunteer technology event, plus you're invited to attend
the speaker appreciation dinner on Saturday and you'll get a cool
T-shirt. ?All this for just a couple hours of your time.
Our procedure this year for volunteering has changed. ?Instead of
going to a wiki like the past 4 years, we've baked the jobs into the
silicon valley code camp web site. ?If you want to volunteer, you need
to update your registration page to let us know that at
(assuming you have not done that already).
This registration page requires you to check the box at the bottom to
volunteer, as well as put a contact mobile phone number that we can
reach you on at the event itself. ?Then, after you have updated your
registration, go to this page:
http://siliconval... and pick the
job(s) you are interested in doing.
Most of the jobs are 1 hour with a 15 minute overlap to train the next
volunteer. A few jobs are longer 1.5 hours. We'd really appreciate
volunteers who can handle 2 slots (back-to-back on Registration, which
would effectively be about 2 hours)
See you next week!
