Yes, that is obviously the way it’s supposed to work, but my settings are already daily digest and I’m still getting every single reply.  Why are you using a mailing list anyway?  It’s very 80s and people really don’t use them anymore for just this reason.

I think we're trying to encourage discussion on Python related topics using the Mailing List. You can adjust your your settings to control the number of emails you get. -> My Profile -> Email and Notifications will let you unsubscribe from mailing list emails or just receive a daily digest. This doesn't affect organizer announcements if I understand meetup config correctly.
