If so, Decision Patterns wants you to be a part of our growing team of data scientists passionate about the power of data.

We have an immediate opening for a modeler / machine learning specialist in a seven-month contract position, with the possibility for extension to a full year. Additional advancement opportunities may be available for the right candidate.


  • Explore application of several different predictive modeling technologies to our client’s needs including neural networks, support vector machines, random forests (Tree Net) and other machine learning technologies.
  • Assess the strength and weaknesses of each technology, conduct swap-in and swap-out analyses, summarize results and recommend practical deployable solutions.
  • Code the selected technology in C++ or write specifications to deploy research.
  • Conduct ad hoc modeling, develop and refine models and machine learning algorithms

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics, engineering or other quantitative field; Master’s Degree or higher preferred
  • At least five years’ experience working in a quantitative field supporting products or operations
  • Experience with SAS, Unix, and Shell scripting required
  • Experience with Python, R and big data tools such as Apache Hadoop preferred
  • Expertise in statistics, analytical modeling, and machine learning
  • We also appreciate those who know about, follow and contribute to open source software
  • Previous consulting experience preferred
