You talked, we listened! We've gotten some feedback that people want more interactive events, and want to hear more about Ruby on Rails. So we've put together an event just for you.
This meetup event is a discussion panel on the topic "Putting Rails to Work". Panelists will discuss their experiences in using Rails to get real work done. What is Rails good for? What are its limits? What do you need to add, customize, or work around? There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience too.
Moderator: Bill Katz
Panelists: Coda Hale Evan Henshaw-Plath Michael Kovacs Josh Susser Chris Wanstrath Florian Weber (Rails core team)
We'll also have 10 or 15 minutes for some lightning talks. I have space for 1 or 2 more, so if you want 5 minutes to do a quick talk, let me know.
“ Really a great event! Really enjoyed the interactivity and the more "geeky" focus. Also liked to see the group getting to talk about how we can contribute as a community (documentation, for example). ”
“ only 2 of the panelists - Florian and the bearded fellow - had anything interesting to say. the others basically recited every Rails book in existence; the java the hut fellow's examples were appropriate for how NOT to do it. i left after the first hour (if it improved i don't know, thus the neutral event rating). i would like to see this group get back to Ruby stuff and not be so Rails-y. also would like to see sessions that are more participatory. ”
