[Mar 1] My bad for not checking the other Ruby Meetups. The East Bay'ers (led by Will Sobel - a former presenter) are having theirs on the same night. That'd just be rude of me to schedule a conflict. So... Moving this Meetup two days later to Thursday, the 22nd (3 weeks from now).
Hack Session last night was WAY fun. I want to do it again... With a theme.
A newcomer said jokingly "code my site". So why the hell not? Lets have a "Code My Site" hack night. The biz people bring their ideas, and the tech people bring their hack-fu.
Here's one way this can work: we randomly organize teams of 3-4 hackers and assign them to a random biz person/idea. Before the night's over, we wrap up and do an overview of what all the teams worked out.
Another way is: biz people bring pizza, beer, sushi, masseuse, etc, to attract the best crowd of hackers. Let the best bribe aggregate the best hackers.
Alternative #3: biz people bring their ideas, give their 5 minute elevator pitch, and subject them to a crit by all (a la art school). Let the best idea aggregate the best hackers.
We'll have to work out the details of confidentiality, code attribution, licensing, etc. So put in your 2 cents on the message board. Or email me and tell me I'm full of it.
Venue will probably be same as last night - if Ivan will have us again. :-)
