Thanks to Josh Schwartzman of Newzwag for volunteering to talk and host.
Josh is the lead developer at a SF-based Rails startup called Newzwag. They've recently completed a large amount of work converting a write-heavy quiz app for the Olympics to a lean cached machine. The talk will be about the challenges they faced, and how they were able to get 8x performance gains through plugins, caching and performance testing. Others are also welcome to present their own findings.
Josh is definitely interested in having other people present Lightning (or slightly longer) Talks. Post a comment on this event page to let Josh know what you have in mind. Or email Josh through his Meetup member link.
“ This was a good gathering, with a good number of people sharing their experiences, questions, and thoughts. It would certainly be nice to have even more people presenting, in order to get a wider range of experiences, but even with just the one company presenting, it was an enjoyable evening. ”
“ Nice presentation. It was, however, about a rather idiosyncratic solution for the presenters' needs. I still took away some knowledge and insight despite this. Thanks to Newzwag for hosting the Meetup and sharing their experience. ”
