For anyone completely new to ruby, you can try out http://www.learnstreet.com/
It is similar to http://www.codecademy.com/ but I think it does a pretty great job at explaining all the basics (it also has javascript and python lessons)

Would it be possible if I attended? I read a comment about having a friend that's female +1ing an I could tag along. The only problem is I don't know that many females that are into ruby. Thanks!
