Friday December 10, 6:30-9pm (REQUIRED): software install fest
Saturday December 11: 9:30am-4pm: workshop
5pm: after-party for volunteers & attendees, location TBA
This workshop is intended to reach out to women who are new to Ruby and Rails. Men are welcome to come; please find the woman/mature-female in your life who wants to learn Ruby and Rails and who will register then bring you as a guest.
We are looking for additional volunteers, both folks who know Ruby on Rails to TA and people who are willing to help with logistics. Please sign up here:http://www.meetup.com...
IGN is located on 2nd, between Brannan and Townsend.
In this workshop, we'll take you through building a complete web application using Ruby on Rails. By the end of the workshop, you'll have an application on the internet that connects to a database and reads and writes information. We'll meet up Install Fest day to install all of the software you need, and then spend workshop day learning and writing code. Be sure to attend this especially if you are on Windows, because Rails 3 can be a bit tricky on Windows.
Total programming novices, system administrators, developers in other languages, and folks who attended our previous workshops are all welcome. We'll have different classes separated by experience level. Each participant needs to bring his or her own computer.
When you RSVP you'll be asked a few question about your operating system, level and type of programming experience, and whether you will be bringing any children. We will plan for a playgroup on site if you're bringing a child.
Snacks will be provided Friday evening and lunch will be provided
If you have questions or ideas for us, the best way to get in touch is to send a message to the organizers.
If the event has filled up already and you want to be on the announce list for future workshops, we have a google group: http://groups.google....
Very useful. I especially enjoyed the approach of starting with cucumber tests and then making them pass. Good way to ground newbies in BDD.

Daniel, I know it's a bit late to give you this answer, but yes, we always have a separate group for people who have never coded at all.

Amy, would you recommend that participants volunteer with registration? or would that be difficult to pull off?

Is this for begginners? I've never coded a thing in my life. Should I come to this event?
