Railsbridge Volunteer Potluck Brunch

  • February 9, 2014 · 1:00 PM

Update: We have plenty of food, don't worry if you don't have anything to bring, just come!

We have wifi: Github Guest: octocat11

It's been far too long since we had a volunteer potluck, so let's do it again!

Github is providing space, juice, and mimosas. What would you like to bring?

First-time volunteers welcome if you want to show up and find out what RailsBridge is all about.

Worth all the driving detours around the Sonoma flooding. Great people doing great work, and having fun along the way.

What should I bring? Brunch doesn't really strike me as a potluck-able affair

    1 · February 3, 2014

    • Doug M.

Hi, Tim -- this is SF, so we serve/eat everything for brunch, and it's RailsBridge(+), so bring whatever you'd like to eat, and/or what you'd like to share, and it will work.

I missed that the date had been changed... Showed up with some home cooked food, but there was nobody there>_<

Yikes/omg! Never thought to cover the original event time, just in case someone missed the change. Sorry (on behalf of your fellow volunteers), but also huge thanks for showing up, with home-cooked food. Hope to see you this Sunday.

Also... I've gotta run at an undetermined time to pick up a friend from the airport. I might have to leave early

Are we still on for this Sunday? Do we have a list of food we're bringing?

    January 31, 2014

  • Sarah A.

Maybe we should move to the following weekend, where there are (i think) fewer conflicts... checking with our hosts to see if that is possible.

I'd really like to be there, but I'm already doing the OWFA hackathon... maybe next time?

    1 · January 23, 2014

    • Doug M.

Hi, Eli. There are at least four of us booked for OWFA, and in the interest of empowering rb.o volunteerism, I suggest that we owe it to ourselves, each other, and our colleagues to duck out of OWFA long enough to connect with the rb.o vol brunch (and we have to eat). At least, the OWFA terms certainly permit it, and that's my current plan. Now, if I could drop off some food on Sat, for Sun, that would help....

Sounds like a good plan Doug. I'm in the same boat.

Would it make sense to move it a few hours earlier for people who are into things like football / the Super Bowl?

    1 · January 13, 2014

    • Doug M.

yes, earlier would make sense. of course, some of us are in the One Web for All hackathon that runs until 6pm, so a dinner potluck would be even better.

      January 15, 2014

    • Lillie C.

Yeah, good call, Doug — I'll be that the OWFA Hackathon too (and I'd expect there to be pretty heavy overlap with RailsBridge community, too.)

      January 15, 2014

  • Jackie H.

Can I +1 the moving it a little earlier. I wasn't paying attention to the date when I RSVP'ed. I think the super bowl might cut down on most people showing up.

    I'll bring a fruit salad.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
