(Novice developers only): Make a Game in SWIFT, Create RoR Site

If you attended workshop on July 29, 2014, check your email for separate notification or email [masked] to schedule follow up session in SF, Berkeley, or San Jose.

Announcement: Any novice developers interested in learning how to build their first iOS mobile application using the Apple, Inc. SWIFT software programming language and pairing it with a Ruby on Rails (RoR) fundraising site to introduce the game can email [masked] or phone/SMS text[masked]-6767.

Requirements (Seriously, Novices/Beginners Only, you must have a picture on your profile for security reasons, and you must answer all questions...I do scrub the list):

Doesn't have an Apple developer account.

Hasn't attended a hackathon (I really mean it).

Hasn't created a responsive RoR site yet using Bootstrap 3 via RailsBricks.

Not enrolled in a dev bookcamp, GA course, or similar program/course.

The training room is downstairs. There is an inexpensive cafe on the main floor.

Adobe Photoshop CS5/6 or appropriate image editor (you will create 6 sprites, app icon, launch image, background image, and two buttons).  You will clone my game called Graditude.

Apple Mac laptop/desktop running Yosemite 10.10, XCode 6 Beta 4 installed, and an iOS device with iOS 7.1 minimum. Apple developer account is not required to develop the application but it is required if you want to publish the source code to the app store.  Most stable version of Ruby ruby 2.0.0p353 [masked] revision 43784) [x86_64-darwin13.0.0] will be included in command line tools:

https://developer.apple.com/swift/resources/

If you cannot access .dmg file, I will have it available on a USB.

Setup for the RoR fundaising site under 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship using AMAZON GEM or PAYPAL gem will require Heroku Toolbelt: https://toolbelt.heroku.com

and a GitHub account:

http://github.com

Will use JumpStarter Code template for RoR fundraising site.

NOVICE DEVELOPERS ONLY: To confirm your eligibility for this FREE workshop, be sure to send a link to your linkedin.com profile. You are welcome to add me but it is not required. I should not see any type of tech development roles on your profile.

Emails for the RoR fundraising site will be generated from https://mandrill.com/signup/ using the DEVISE gem.

We will break for lunch from 12pm - 1pm. You can brown bag it or eat offsite.
