Una de las metas de Rails Bridge Open Workshops es la diversidad. Basado en ello, estamos planeando realizar el mismo curriculum de "Outreach for Woman" en Español!! El Taller está dirigido a personas de habla hispana con el objetivo de integrarlos a la Comunidad Rails pero no es excluyente a aquellas personas que hablen Español.
En el taller construiremos una aplicación RoR básica. Al final del día, tendrás una aplicación web que interactúa con una base de datos relacional, crea y despliega información en la Internet. Además, estarás expuesto a las últimas tecnologías utilizadas en esta comunidad y te mostraremos super cool conceptos como desarrollo ágil, desarrollo basado en pruebas primero y mucho mucho más!

El taller está diseñado para integrar la comunidad de habla española y sus amigos (sin distinción de sexo) que estén buscando aprender cómo programar en un ambiente amistoso.
Desarrolladores novatos o con experiencia en otros lenguajes, personas interesadas en aprender algo de programación. Te acabas de mudar al Bay Area, hablas español y estas "lost in translations"?
. Escuchas comentarios de tus amigos, pareja y/o hijos sobre Rails o otros conceptos de programación y quieres informarte? Este taller sería una buena oportunidad para aprender!
Además, son bienvenidos aquellas personas que hayan asistido a workshops anteriores y quieran aprender lo mismo o repasar / refrescar conceptos pero en Español. La comunidad RoR de habla hispana se ha expandido bastante!
Logística
Nos reuniremos el dia 05 de Agosto en el Install Fest para instalar todas las herramientas y programas necesarios para el taller (Por favor no faltes) Nos enfocaremos en el curriculum el día Sábado.
Tendremos diferentes grupos de acuerdo al nivel de experiencia. Cada participante deberá traer su propia portátil (laptop) y cable de energia (power supply)
Nota: En el RSVP se te preguntará sobre el sistema operativo, nivel y tipo de experiencia que posees y si requieres o no guardería. (Por favor responde durante el registro o antes del evento si necesitas guardería / cuidado de niños para realizar los arreglos correspondientes)

Viernes / Friday: Aug 05, 7:30-9pm (REQUIRED): Install fest
Sabado /Sat : Aug 06 9:30am-4pm: Taller

Tendremos snacks (sorpresa!) el Viernes durante el Install Fest. Desayuno y almuerzo serán proporcionados el dia Sábado. (Incluye opciones para vegetarianos)

One of the objectives of the Rails Bridge Open Workshops is diversity, with that in mind we are planning and conduction a workshop that makes space for some of the quieter voices in our community and aims to bring more Spanish speakers into the Rails Community.
The curriculum is based on the English's version and will be presented in Spanish!. We'll take you through building a web app using Ruby on Rails. By the end of the day, you'll have an application on the Internet that connects to a database and reads and writes. You will be also be exposed to and get a taste of some super cool concepts such as agile developments, TDD and more!
Anyone is welcome! The program is a workshop designed to outreach the Spanish community and their friends who are looking to learn how to program in a friendly environment. They are also welcome those who have attended previous workshops and want to learn as much or review / refresh concepts but in Spanish. The Spanish RoR community has expanded !

I was impressed by the volunteers, all of whom gave generously of their time and knowledge. I am particularly grateful to Sarah, Carmen, Rodrigo and Paco, who collectively spent well over six hours during the two days of the workshop to troubleshoot my aging laptop's issues.

There was a little scheduling conflict at the venue and we've been asked to make some adjustment with the schedule. The workshop has been moved to Aug 05-06. Sorry about the confusion and emails. Don't throw tomatoes @ me :-) Peace, love and buena onda!
