"Ruby Phone Home" - July SF Ruby Meetup

We will return to Adaptive Path (thanks Kate and David) for July's Ruby Meetup. There's a cap on attendence (we can't fit 111 people as in the June Meetup) so please RSVP early.

[Friday, June 30, 2006] - RSVP is full. Wow. Be prepared to sit on the floor.

- Andre Lewis will talk more about SF Wireless - a community-driven listing of cafes with wireless internet access in San Francisco. It's written completely in RoR, and does some cool stuff with ratings, Google Maps integration, etc. Contact Andre - http://ruby.meetup.co... - regarding what you want to hear more about.

- Jon Bardin will talk about integrating Ruby and telephony into a Ruby-controlled phone system.

- Rich Morin (http://www.cfcl.com/r...) just finished reading "Enterprise Integration with Ruby" (http://www.pragmaticp...) and will give us a quick recap.

The Giants will not be playing that night, so parking should be less competitive.

It went over scheduled time. A little better time management would be good so 2nd presentation could have ended before 8p. Unfortunately, I could not stay any later.

Very informative. The presenters know their stuff. I thought the VOIP presenatation went a to long, but it was interesting. I look forward to hearing more about SF Wireless at a future meeting.

Another great evening. Jon's talk had a lot of technical depth. I had trouble getting the big picture; possibly because I can't yet picture myself setting up an Asterisk server for fun in my spare time. Andre's talk also had a lot of depth, great live demos (with a token bug to prove that it's real), and lots of pointers to more detail. And Bosco, quick book reviews at the end are great, but let's bring back the door prizes!!

While both talks were interesting, I especially enjoyed Andre's presentation, both content and style. Thanks both of you.
