Mobile APIs - connecting to the Carriers

2600hz has done a partnership with Sprint where the call goes from the Sprint cell towers to their servers, then they hand off the SIP packets directly to 2600hz's cluster.  We will discuss the technical details of how this works and why it is important (mobile presence, cell phone triangulation, call recording from any device, moving the media stream to and from any device...).

We will also discuss the Mobile APIs that are now available and/or how people can do a SIP handoff to their own switch.  We will also bring a couple test cell phones that you can provision on the fly (and how you can buy some used ones on Ebay and become your own mobile carrier).

So if you like telecom, APIs or just want to learn more about how Mobile actually works from a networking point of view then please join us.

Itinerary:

5:30- Check-in / Arrival

6:00 - Talks on Mobile from Darren Schreiber (2600hz CEO / co-author of the official FreeSWITCH book)

7:00 - Pizza / check out different APIs and general discussion

8:00 - Go home and enjoy the rest of your night.

*We hope you can all make it.  However you must RSVP by March 16th (just say yes you are attending) so we can put you on the list.  If you are not on the list, security will not let you in.*

Thank you all for attending our Meetup last night and making the event such a success. We'd also like to thank Orange Labs for the event space, the food and the drinks. We will be posting the video in a couple of days, so you are still in luck if you couldn't attend. In the meantime, follow us on Twitter (https://twitter.com/2600hertz) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/2600hzOfficial) to keep track of news and upcoming events.

Here is a informative discussion from last week giving an overview of the integrated mobile technology. I will warn you, it is two hours long (great for car rides or putting your kids to sleep).
