Get your bonnets ready YORKIES!!!
We are officially participating in the San Francisco's 17th Annual Union Street Parade & Spring Celebration on Easter Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 in Cow Hollow, San Francisco. The parade will begin at 2:00pm, but we will be meeting at 1:00pm at our regular Meetup location ~ Allyne Park ~ located on the corner of Gough and Green Street, which is also the starting point of the parade.
The event is not your average street fair or formal parade. It can best be described as wonderful, wacky, elegant and fabulous, with everything from roller-blading cows and creative self-propelled mini-floats to garden areas, sophisticated fashions, children's activities and beautiful classic, vintage and art cars. This year's celebration will include the now famous Easter Bonnet Contest, street performers on every corner, costumed characters (including us and our yorkies), children's activities and bistro style seating areas for outdoor dining, sponsored by local restaurants. The parade itself (The Biggest Little Parade in San Francisco - is five blocks long and packed with fun) will begin at 2:00pm at Union & Gough with the route running down the center of Union Street and ending at Fillmore Street.
It's a special event and we are thrilled that the San Francisco Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Group will be participating in the Easter Celebration! We are in the process of creating a sign to show our YORKIE PRIDE and we are hoping that you and your yorkie(s) will participate in the fun! If you don't want to march in the parade, please come by to cheer on your fellow yorkie(s) from the sidelines. Come dress in your Easter BEST to show off your pride on being a member of the San Francisco Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Group and RSVP at your earliest convenience for an accurate yorkie count! And feel free to invite your friends, family and other dog-lovers to participate - the bigger our group, the better!
For questions, suggestions or additional ideas, please reply to the message board. Parking will be difficult so please take public transportation, car pool and/or drive in early if possible. The Lombard Street Garage will be opened and is located at 195 Moulton Street.
We hope to see you there!!! Yorkies Forever Unite!
