What date is your yorkie's birthday & how old is your yorkie?

September 23rd, 2005

What is the name of your yorkie(s)?

"ChouChou" (As in "ma petite chouchou": a French term of endearment meaning my little "sweetie-pie"/ "cream puff" / "darling" / "pet" etc. )

What is your name (human guardian of these precious yorkies)?

Kat

What is your favorite dog park and why?

We are in love with Allyne Park! ChouChou finally sniffed a Yorkie there, so we think she is very comfortable in that park. That was tremendous progress for her. ;-)

Please tell us why you decided to get a yorkie.

Small enough to travel everywhere with me. Yorkies are small but they are "mighty". She is my first Yorkie and I am smitten! I love my little girl so much. She was my Valentine Girl.

Introduction

We love to meet other Yorkie families and have fun! Native Bay Area Californian living on both coasts. We commute with our tiny Yorkie ChouChou & our Amazon parrot. (ChouChou adores him.) I'm also Organizer of the Boston Little Yorkies MeetUp.

What ChouChou is saying about this Meetup Group

Very impressed with how graciously we were met by this group and their Yorkies. Everyone was so friendly, fun and responsible about their dogs too. Truly a great MeetUp! Thank you.

I am glad your doggie is o.k. now. What were the vaccinations? I am so torn as to what to do. I want to protect Beanie, but I don't want to subject her to something that will hurt her. She had all her puppy shots but she is due for the booster because it has been a year since the last shot. The shot is called Vanguard Plus 5. The breeder said I should give her this booster and no more after that, to have her titred. I will never forgive myself if I get her the shot and something happens.

She is fine now. Got shot last Tues., and Wed. a.m. was making wheezing noises, walking around hunched over and with tail between her legs, & falling over & shaking. Called the vet office who said, oh no, a reaction happens right away. I said bullsh!t, my dog is sick. I put her in the car (she laid on my lap like a dishrag) and brought her to vet-gave her Benadryl shot to stop reaction. She is 16 mos. old and I am SO afraid to give her the core booster shot. No more after this.

Hi, I am still trying to navigate this site and I just got your message. I would LOVE to have some tips about grooming, vets, etc. I just made an apt. for Beanie at Arlington Animal Clinic to get her dreaded rabies shot. WHY do I have to give my dog a freakin rabies shot when she will never get rabies?? I mean how many dogs or people come in contact with rabies. It p!sses me off that I am being forced to do this. Anyway, deep breath.

All I can say is thank goodness she uses pee pads because there is no way I would be able to walk her during the time I have this WHATEVER it is. I was really looking forward to meeting other little Yorkie owners and finding out about things like good groomers (that actually know how to cut a Yorkie's hair) and also what vets. people use. Beanie is due for her dreaded rabies shot soon and I am trying to find a more "holistic" type vet in the area that won't push tons of vaccinations on her.
