Meetup Cancelled: 2010 Thanksgiving Pot-Luck Meetup

2010 Thanksgiving Pot-Luck Meetup, scheduled to occur on Sunday, November 21,[masked]:00 PM has been canceled. Unfortunately, the weather is predicting rain for this Sunday and we decided to cancel the Thanksgiving Meetup since muddy paws are no fun for our beloved yorkies and human guardians. We will have our next Meetup on Sunday, December 19th so please update your plans accordingly.

The majority of Allyne Park is closed due to the re-seeding of the grass. In years past, the caretakers of the park will close the park from January to March, but it looks like they are starting early this year. In respect to the caretakers of Allyne Park and our love of the park, let's give the park time to nourish and replenish it's grass so we can have many green & grassy Meetups in 2011! In the meantime, I have found an alternate outdoor location for our yorkies to meet and play! I am so amazed by this hidden treasure and I can't wait for the San Francisco Yorkshire Terrier Group to have it's first Meetup at Michaelanglo Playground. The dog friendly park is located on Greenwich Street between Jones and Taylor in North Beach. This delightful jewel of a park is the result of community fundraising and advocacy. It has a gated door as you enter, completed enclosed on all sides, a picnic table, benches, trees, shrubs, plantings, grass, a children's playground, paths and so much room for our yorkies to play! The park is secluded from the street, set below street level and enclosed by buildings on both sides and stone walls and a bougainvillea-covered fence on the other.

This park has it ALL! I counted a hand full of free parking spots on Greenwich in front of the park (very rare in the city). Michaelanglo Playground has grass for our Yorkies to sniff! Areas for our Yorkies to play if the grass is too muddy. The park is completely hidden and dogs are allowed with leash. It has a picnic table so this will give the organizers a break from bringing portable tables to every meetup. The park is super clean, well maintained, extremely private and a perfect place for our Yorkies to meet! We will have our Howliday Pawty on December 19th at this new location and we hope for dry weather and lot's of howliday cheer!!

If you have further questions, you can email me through the "Contact Organizer" link on Meetup:

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving with your yorkies and we look forward to seeing everybody in December!
