We are so sorry to hear of this very bad news. Our thoughts are with you.
My daughter's dog "escaped" through the fence in her yard recently.
She is only 3 lbs. and didn't have any collar or tags on because she
is so tiny. As it turned out, a very kind UPS driver saw her
wandering around and picked her up. The driver put signs all over our
neighborhood and checked with a neighbor to see whose dog it might be.
We got her back, but only after going through some rough times. As
soon as we got her back we drove to Petco and had a tag made with her
name and telephone number (including area code) on it. Now both of
our tiny dogs wear tags -- just in case.
I know this story wouldn't have prevented what happened to Bebe, but
it might help someone else who hesitates to put tags on their little
one. And, in a case like yours, at least the theif would have an easy
way to contact you to return the dog.
