Hi All,

We had a great Xmas BBQ! Check out the photos in the Photo Section.

For Jan 08, we are pleased to announce that Kin Chew will be sharing with us his reviews and experience on the Linux-based ASUS Eee PC. He had this UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) since last November and I found it to be very convenient for him. However, there are some limitations which he could share with us.

Essentially, the talk will cover the features of this Linux-based UMPC. He will also cover the Linux
applications that you can and cannot use. Of course, I am sure we are all eager to see a hands on demo of this linux PC.

Since it is the start of 08, perhaps it is also good opportunity to generate some ideas and projects for the year. Hope to hear from all.
From,
The Organizers

Tested RJ-45 bridge with 2nd PC running Knoppix. Internet connection ok, so should be okay with Eee too. Was afraid it was some weird proprietary Windows protocol, with special bridge client on 2nd PC required. Internet ---> 3g modem ---> USB ---> Windows ---> RJ-45 ---> Eee. My 3g modem has Mac, but no Linux drivers. Hey, I just live in this world, I didn't make it.

I can provide Internet connection for EEE via RJ-45 bridge to my notebook 192.168.0.1 with 3g modem. http://www.practicallynetwo... This is XP setting for 2nd PC, don't know if EEE can set, or if just DHCP enough. Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : mshome.net Dhcp Enabled: Yes Autoconfig Enabled : Yes IP Address : 192.168.0.213 Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway : 192.168.0.1 DHCP Server : 192.168.0.1 DNS Servers : 192.168.0.1

Can anyone walk in to the SMU seminar room or is there some security card access? Organiser, can email me your mobile number just in case I run into trouble? Thanks.
