Small World Underground

Anyone up for some Small World Underground? It's similar to the original Small World, with a subterranean theme, and some interesting new twists.

It's not necessary to have played Small World before.

If anyone wants to bring original Small World we can play that too (or instead).

I spoke to the manager at Tim Horton's today and while they do want us to continue using their location, they have gotten nearly a dozen complaints over the past year and would like us to keep some things in mind when we're there:
#1: Noise. They have had some noise complaints, and we definitely get pretty loud sometimes and it's not a very big space. I don't think we have to be silent as a library but we do need to remember to keep it down, especially when we have a larger group. Conversational voices only and consider the other customers - we'll need to save the rowdy games for other venues.

Tom , also let me add my thanks. I had no idea that we were being problems so now we know we can address it !

Glad I could help - the owner doesn't want us to leave, he just wants to avoid other people leaving because of us (and some have). But it won't take much for us to adjust.

I am going to skip out on this one, even though I was psyched. i'd like to wait for a location where our presence is not quite so upfront and center.

The short version about using Timmy's:
#1 - Keep the volume down so that other customers can have a normal conversation.
#2 - Make sure plenty of other tables are free.
    #3 - It's a business - be a customer.
#4 - If the staff have a concern, be polite, and fix it.

Those of you with a copy of either Small World or Small World Underground, please bring it, if you don't mind. Each game works for 2-5 players, so right now we're looking at two nearly full games. Looking forward to it!

I have never played Small World Underground, or heard of it even. I pulled the gameboard and instructions and am familiarizing myself at least with the object of the game, and the visuals. it sounds like fun.

It is really fun. I'm glad you're planning to join us. You might also be able to find some videos of gameplay on Youtube.

Would this work better at The Complex with bigger tables? I know that they have MTG Draft tourney Friday nights but could ask to see if they would have a table or two open.

I'm thinking maybe another time? Bigger tables would be nice, but my concern would be what kind of noise/atmosphere to expect on a Friday with a tournament going on. I think we should check the place out, for sure, but maybe on a slow night at first.
