Follow up for those interested: Had a great time. Dropped the family off at Coco Keys water park and went in to play games all day! Games played -

Starship Merchants (1st time -Taught by Game Designer)
    Abaddon (1st time)
    Dominion (1st time)
Island Fortress (1st time -Taught by Game Designer) GREAT game! Not yet released, but look out for it soon.
    Battle Cry
    a la Carte
    Shadows Over Camelot (1st time)
Resistance: Avalon (1st time -3 plays)

Probably more games in one day than I played all last year.

I considered going, but was expecting to be in New Jersey over the weekend. Very awesome that you got to play games WITH the actual designers! :)

Quite true. Especially since we didn't know that the guy who taught us "Island Fortress" was the designer until AFTER we'd played the game. We all said, "Thanks for teaching us the great game. Why are you so nice to do so?" and he said, "Well it's my own game design and I'm here showing it off. This is the only copy currently in America." He even showed us that his portait is used as a character on one of the cards. Very cool. Super nice man (from Mass.), super fun, beautifully produced game.

Something about this fascinates me...but I'm not sure what time we would leave Maine or when we would return...

Sounds fun! I'm intrigued, but not hugely interested in driving...is there a carpool plan/timing?

As for me, I will actually be driving down the night before as I have family in the area. So, I will unfortunately not be able to help anybody with carpooling.

Also, to put in one final plug (I swear I am NOT on these guys payroll!) there are HUN-dreds of games down there. The walls of the conference center are lined with stacks of game boxes to play, and there's a huge library to choose from, etc. I really do recommend it. Hope to see some of you there!

This is a great (and huge) gaming day -9:00 AM to Midnight if you want to stay all day! Lots of space, games and gamers. Just a heads up, the pre-pay cost ($12.00) expires one week before the event (so, January 19th) and then it jumps up to $20, which is too much IMHO.

Just wanted to put a placeholder here - I honestly don't know if I will be going to this or not, but as a day trip with a relatively cheap entry fee, it's definitely possible.
