3rd Annual Shakespeare's Birthday Sonnet Slam

Come hear all 154 Shakespeare Sonnets being read aloud by 154 Readers at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. It's FREE. Rain or Shine. Produced by Willful Pictures.
@sonnetslam

Feel free to consider being a Standby Reader that day.  Even though all our sonnet slots are filled, we will have no-shows so if you want to be on Standby, just let a Sonnet Helper know when you get to the bandshell on 4/23.  We will have printed copies of the sonnets at hand.

    What's in the brain that ink may character
    Which hath not been said to Melinda and the Sonnet Slam Organizers twice before?
    What's new to speak, what new to tweet or register?
    I cannot say, but this I know:
    Though the clouds darkened and the temps stayed oh so very low,
    Warmth and good cheer was had all around,
    And as the sonnets flew, here and there, in orderly grace,
    Much shivering and chattering didst take place;
    But unwavering, the Sonnet Slam'eteers did speak the words true,
    Truest now as truest then, when Will was Will;
    So till again, one year round, when we all gather againe to warm the chill.

    Thanks Melinda. Awesome. Had a great time. Great event. Speaking of Will, I will bring a parka and a thermos next time. (Of course, then it will be 98 degrees in the shade. Oh well.)

    Cheers!

      Sorry, I cannot make it tomorrow; I was to deliver sonnet #94. I'm disappointed that I can't experience this.

      yes, at the moment we have 154 Readers (some are Meetup Members of this group). I'd be glad to waitlist you because I know I will have some people who back out between now and 4/23.

      The event is FREE and open to the public to come hear the Sonnets aloud. And if anyone from this group wants to swing by, it would be great to have them attend. There will also be some no-shows that day and we've had some Standby Readers hop up and cold read a Sonnet if needed. It really is quite fun and I hope you can join us in whatever way suits your schedule.
