William Shakespeare's Star Wars

Last Saturday, people thought that "A Midsummer Night's Dream" would be rained out.  It wasn't, though we all got a bit cold.

This Saturday presents new considerations:  possible 90-something degree temperatures, AND the special added attraction of the Blue Angels roaring above our sweating heads.

So far, we're not seeing many cancellations, so I'm planning on going ahead with "Verily, A New Hope."  The place we meet, N of the Museum, is quite deeply treed and shady, and I hope people will remember to stay hydrated, use sunscreen, etc.

Last week, someone asked if scripts would be provided.  No, sorry.  This is not an "open-source" work, so you must buy, borrow, or check out the copy you use at the reading.

I hope to see you there.

Thanks for bringing a ringer for Alec Guinness.

Thank you, everyone, for making this so much fun that we didn't much mind the Blue Angels (except that they were to early to provide the soundtrack for the battle scene). The shady spot was very comfy, too. We talked about doing the next script in the series ("The Jedi Doth Return"), so I'll set a date, probably in the fall, and get a room at a library. If anyone has any definite "no" months let me know. I'd like to do it before everybody gets all busy with the holidays, and maybe do the 3rd one next spring.

I can't believe it, I have to miss this! But only because I was cast in a Star Wars themed show with Jet City Saber Guild, so that makes up for it a little bit... May the Force Be With Thee.

Lucky you! You'll have to tell us about it.

you have no idea how much I want to do this. Of course it is a day of bday parties, sea fair and a play! Alas!

So that Catherine (1/6 of our total attendance) can join us, and as no one has given me a definite "no" or any suggestions for any other date, I've rescheduled for 8/1, 1pm. If you can't make that day, let me know by this Friday, April 10, at 5pm Pacific.

If I don't hear from anyone by Friday, April 10, at 5pm Pacific, I will assume that everyone is OK with the Aug. 1 date, and I'll find and schedule a place for this to happen. OK?

Any Saturday in August is better for me. I see the schedule only goes through July. Or you can keep July for Star Wars if others can't change and maybe read the next books later. I am going to wash my dog now, put the Elizabethan ruff I made on him, and take a photo for my profile. having fun with Will!

Catherine, you're the only one who's responded to the date at all.....Of course we can change it. Does anyone else have any commitments I should take into consideration? Please speak up so I can make sure all 6 of us can make it. Right now, things are still at the formative stage, so TALK TO ME.

I probably have 7/25 open; got something the weekend before and after, but nothing jumps to mind on that day.

      April 4

  • Catherine

Yikes of course yesterday Found out I need to go to DC that week. I hope to be back by 7/25. Any alternate dates possible? Or is it "do or do not; there is no try." Yoda

  • Barbara

Ooooh, now we're a whopping 6!! The Force is with us. I'll start calling around for a place tomorrow and Monday.

    April 4

  • Barbara

Now that a whopping four of us are interested, I'm throwing out a date/time please let me know ASAP if July 25 @ 1 pm works for you; if that date works, I'll start looking for a place.

I am now the proud owner of the entire first trilogy. I read the first book/first trilogy with my other Shakespeare group, and I may be able to recruit some people from there, too, to broaden the cast.

I laughed out loud to read this. Looking forward to sharing the fun whenever and wherever.

Clint and James, as you can see, this has been in limbo for over a year. I think we can safely assume that we will not be getting any more interest within the group. I suggest we figure out how/when/where just the 3 of us, plus any interested friends we each care to invite, can do it. Meetup people are invited, of course, but obviously we're the only people interested.

I say we join forces and forge ahead, and let the devil, as they say, fall where they may. Let the chips take the hindmost. Etc.

I'm free this Sat. as "12th Night" is not happening.

    Yes? No?

I'm new to the main group. I'd like to try this.

My other Shakespeare group did this a few weeks ago. It was super-mega-fun.

Tim Brown, I hope you can come.

I'd love to do this! And I just got "The Empire Striketh Back" today...

    • Barbara

Well, there are three of us. How about we agree on a date/place/time?

      May 24, 2014

    I have the book......looks good.

    August 26, 2013

  • Barbara

I am SO in. Just ordered the book.

I await the sage counsel of my worthy fellows to determine the date/time.

Somewhere, I have a copy of "Hamlet" translated into Klingon. It's probably in storage with my 4000 other books....but I'm glad I have it.
