Chekhov's influential, emotionally charged and atmospheric tragicomic masterpiece on lost time, wasted lives, and impossible loves.
The setting is Professor Serebryakov's rural estate in Russia in the 1890s. His beautiful wife Yelena doesn't love him anymore. His brother-in-law Vanya is bitter, resentful and obsessed with what might have been. His daughter Sonya pines hopelessly after the brooding country doctor Astrov, who himself is in love with Yelena. Everyone is miserable and their idleness is just breeding the discontent - something's got to give.
Meet by the doughnut sculpture by 1pm - at that time we'll go and find a nice place to sit (call my cellphone,[masked] if you get there late). If the weather is bad we'll meet at Capitol Hill library instead.
