Finally we got to read Coriolanus! Much fun was had yesterday at the reading of a play that we agreed deserves to be less obscure. Lots of fun battle scenes, scheming, and betrayal. Also some tasty snacks provided by Inner Chapters.
Next time: something funny and romantic again - one of Shakespeare's best loved comedies, As You Like It. Banished from the court of the usurper Frederick, Rosalind and her cousin Celia (disguised as men and accompanied by Touchstone the jester) head for the Forest of Arden, but they aren't the only ones to have found refuge there.
For more details, see the full listing:
When: Sunday, October 9,[masked]:00 PM
Where: Inner Chapters Bookstore & Cafe
419 Fairview Ave N (between Republican & Harrison)
Seattle, WA 98109
We'll be at the back of the shop, in the children's section.
It's not necessary to read the play beforehand, but it's easier to understand what's going on if you familiarize yourself with the plot first. Please bring copies of the text if you have them, but if you don't then don't worry about it - someone might bring multiple copies, there might be copies in the shop and at a pinch there's always somebody who doesn't mind sharing.
Since Inner Chapters is not normally open on Sundays, the owner has requested that we make a $5 per person minimum purchase to make it worth her while to open for us. If that would prevent you from coming please let us know and we'll work something out - we don't want anybody to be "priced out" of the reading.
Don't forget that as members of this group we get $1 off any beverage and 25% off books on the day of the meetup.
