Hike at Allaire State Park

How about we have a hike through Allaire State Park? This park is located near Lakewood and Howell. They have 4 hiking trails; the red, yellow & green trails total 6.5 miles. The orange trail is 16.5 miles long. There is a $5 fee for entering the park on the weekends.

Did anyone else get a rash from the hike? I'm not sure if its bites or a rash, but its all over my legs and feet. I don't think its poison ivy because the bumps are too big.

My legs and feet are a mess. I went to the DR last night, so hopefully it will clear up soon! Thanks for the info on the mites.

ok so my husband & I were in the neighborhood and stopped at Allaire Park and know where to go...we should all meet at what we said below 4265 Atlantic Ave if everyone can park in that lot and sit on the benches near the tress on the left of the building/bathrooms...this is perfect! We picked up some maps too!We will meet there at 1pm...I will be wearing a pink tank top and bring lot sof water! See you all tomorrow!

just a suggestion...we should probably meet at the main park entrance. The address is 4265 Atlantic Ave. Farmingdale, NJ 07727, you will see the parking lot, trains, bathrooms and a big white church... we can meet near any of these things.

    September 8, 2012

  • Glenn

Where will we be meeting? There is the main Park entrance off of 524 which takes you right to the village or the parking lot off of Hospital Rd at the back of the park and accesses the hiking trails.

A network of trails winds through the park providing opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The yellow trail at .5 miles, the red trail at 1.5 miles and the green trail at 4.5 miles are easy hiking trails for pedestrians only. The orange trail, which is 16.5 miles long, is a moderate multi-use trail.

I don't think we should do the longer trail (16.5) because we do not know if everyone is capable and we shouldn't chance it. Maybe we can do the 4.5 which should beless than 2 hours and see how everyone feels...just a suggestion. I will do whatever.

My husband & I were there before, we rode our bikes along the trails. I'm sure he can lead everyone, unless you find someone else! Let me know, no problem! We look forward to meeting everyone, should be a great day!

Hey guys. Is there anyone in this group that is familiar with the trails of Allair state park? I have never been down them and i dont feel comfortable leading. This event was added by a previous organizer, I just added the date. So if someone has any suggestions and wants to lead this group down the trails please feel free too. Or we are just going to have to wing it. Thanks.

HI Raj. That's a good question. It depends if people want to walk for around 2 hours or 5 hours. Im up for any trail. I have been to the park but im not familiar with the trails. Im going to read more about it. If anyone has any suggestions about the park, please let me know Thanks!
