Book Club discusses Peter Watson's The Age of Atheists

Peter Watson’s new book,The Age of Atheists, is a rich and fascinating presentation of the extraordinary changes in Western society and culture as we moved away from a traditional god-centered world. This is a long book which rewards a complete reading, so I’ve divided it into two book club sessions.  Fans might want to get the book early so they can start on it soon.  For August 7th we’re discussing the Introduction, “Is There Something Missing in our Lives? Is Nietzsche to Blame?” and Part I, “The  Avant-Guerre: When Art Mattered,” together about 130 pages.

Please note that because of an unanticipated problem at our meeting site July 10, we have simply moved our schedule ahead one month.

For people too busy from with summer fun to finish the reading, Elaine will catch you up at the beginning of the meetup.

Even if you haven't finished reading, join us for the discussion.  The Secular Humanist Society of NY Book Club is free and open to all.
