National Air and Space Museum

This is a great opportunity to practice the art of photography in low light with NO tripod. There are many planes to photograph and a space shuttle. If you have never been this place is truly a treasure. Note there is a $15 parking fee.

Lots of fun Crystal! I posted some photos to the Flickr group. Thanks again for organizing!

It was an excellent opportunity to hone low light photography technical skills. Very comfortable environs with many potential subjects to chose from for composition topics. My first meetup with the group was an enjoyable one. Thanks to Crystal Voynow for organizing and helpful direction.

Thank you to all who came out today. It was great seeing new faces and reuniting with others. I can't wait to see what everyone captured.

I won't make it this morning. You all have fun! Can't wait to see the pictures.

Hi Crystal, I thought I would ask here before calling the museum. Can you tell me whether monopods are allowed? Shooting free hand is great but in low light and with some of the heavier lenses a little support is a good thing.

Per the museum no monopods or tripods are allowed. Sorry.

      Thank you for the update.

Question: How did I become an excursion organizer?

    January 17, 2014

    • Lynford M.

Tony, I think I did that when you volunteered a Meetup in the past. It helped people know who was the point person on that event. I can remove it, or you can always keep it and feel free to volunteer more. :-)

I think you have me mixed up with the other Tony B. :-) I am going on a sunrise hike tomorrow and plan on coming over. If I get there in time, I'd be happy to help out.

    Hi,
I'm near Downtown Bethesda and the Metro Station. If anyone is nearby and needs a ride I can take 3 people. I'm planning on leaving around 9AM. If you need a ride and want to share the parking cost, send me an email today to: [masked] and I will get back to you.

Should we set up some carpools so everyone can split parking?

That's a great idea. I live in Falls Church near the Beltway.

I will be moving that day. Have fun!
