Thanks Shutterbugs for suggesting the butterfly exhibit as a meetup location. We are in luck. The exhibit started a few weeks ago and will run until September. The tickets are $6.00 per person. To avoid the lines at the Visitor Center, we will be happy to pick up the tickets in advance. Hence the attached fee of $8.00 per person.
Here is some information from Brookside Gardens Website....
Beginning in early May and running daily through Mid- September, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 p.m., Brookside Gardens South Conservatory will feature live butterflies. Come witness the butterfly life cycle as tiny eggs hatch into crawling, chewing caterpillars, which then encase themselves in jewel-like chrysalides and emerge as sipping, flying adult butterflies. Learn about the best annual and tropical plants, and hardy shrubs that are used as nectar sources to attract butterflies to your own garden.
"Wings of Fancy" is located inside a greenhouse, which is usually ten degrees warmer than the outside temperature. The exhibit is also more humid than the outside environment and temperatures increase over the course of the day. Visiting the butterfly exhibit and seeing the gardens requires a fair amount of walking. We encourage all visitors to bring water with them during hot weather and to drink water regularly to replace water lost as sweat. We want all our visitors to have a safe and enjoyable visit to Brookside Gardens and "Wings of Fancy" and we look forward to seeing your group at Brookside Gardens.
The Butterfly Exhibit is located in Brookside Gardens south conservatory located at 1500 Glenallan Avenue, Wheaton, MD 20902. The Visitors Center is located at 1800 Glenallan Avenue, Wheaton, MD 20902. Call [masked] for more information or visit their website at http://www.montgomeryparks.org/brookside/wings_of_fancy.shtm.

Laurie - I'm not able to make it either. Thanks for the email. I didn't put it on my calendar after my RSVP & I over-scheduled myself. I hope to get there before the exhibit closes. Thanks for leading the group...I'll keep an eye out for future meet-ups.

Hi Laurie - now it'll let me post. Regretfully Sylvia and I will need to cancel tomorrow due to a serious family illness. Please accept our apologies. Emily

Hi Benita, any equipment will do. Im not sure what kind of camera or equipment you have, but for me I usually always carry a zoom lens and a fixed lens. A tripod and flash always come in handy to. Hope this helps, Laurie

Anyone see a problem with me just showing up as a regular visitor and paying the admission fee there? I forgot to RSVP :-)

Hi All - any recommendations on equipment for this meetup. With the humidity, my first thought is that not to change my lens; but try sticking with one to see what I can capture. Thanks

Hi, I have to change my RSVP to a 'no' but it won't let me clear my comments from before. So just wanted to let you know I'm a no, so you can plan. :)
