This is a social and support group for women who struggle with shyness and social anxiety, where we aim to get to know one another as individuals rather than anonymous faces in a crowd. Don't let that intimidate you, because everyone else is probably as nervous as you are.
We'll be holding regular meetups and encourage everyone to attend as frequently as they can, because the only way to gain better social skills is having lots of practice. Sometimes we may try to hold structured discussions revolving around relevant topics like self-esteem.
The meetings are usually limited to 10 people in order to ensure an environment small and comfortable enough for each to have an opportunity to express herself and be heard, although no one should feel pressured to speak if they do not want to.
If any of the following characteristics apply to you, this may be the right group for you:
You…
- are often quiet in social situations
- have trouble expressing your thoughts eloquently when speaking
- have trouble projecting your voice and making yourself heard amongst loud extroverts
- find small talk to be difficult and tiring
- have low self-esteem and constantly worry about your self image
- find it generally difficult to make friends
Because we strive to maintain a safe space and inclusive atmosphere, racism, sexism, homophobia, and other kinds of prejudiced attitudes will not be welcomed. Confidence- and friendship-building are the key mandates of this group.
New members are always welcome. We are an interactive group, so be sure to check out our message boards from time to time!
Its content is only available to members.
