Hi! I'm Jer. Virginia born artist and programmer living in Seattle. I currently make my living as a front end web developer - art and code at the same time!
I've self-published two comic books with moderate success. The first was "The Elves of Iax," which I wrote and drew myself. The second, "Studio Splurd's Papyrus" was an experimental collected work with my friends. I am currently writing web comic called "The Indies" that updates every Monday. It is supposed to be about independent artists, but it's really more of a classic drama. I plan to do more refined printed work, but I'm using The Indies as an excessive to keep pushing my art and writing, so my next polished work will be more gooder. I have disorganized plans for a smart-phone game, but most of my creative focus goes towards keeping my web comic updated.
I code, write, draw and compose, in order of skill. I code for a living. I am more confident about my writing than my art. I play violin and piano, screw around in Garage Band and jam with my friend Kev. I've written one song, kinda.
My current source for games right now is XBox indie games. Lately I've loved Solar 2 and SpeedRunner. My friends have actually had a lot of fun over "Techno Kitty Adventures" even though it was deliberately made to be a train wreck. I also love community games posted to Kongregate or Newgrounds, but I've been out of those loops for a while. Comic wise, I prefer self made gems and terrible web comics. Even if I can't stand reading more than a page or two, it still makes me happy that someone is getting their ideas down and putting them out there.
Ikaruga is the greatest video game ever made. Simple concept, fun gameplay, inspiring music, CHOREOGRAPHY, and a fairly decent story if you can manage to find it on the internet.
Lately, my favorites are "Pang, The Wandering Shaolin Monk," "Here There Be Robots" and "Minor Acts of Heroism." Every time a comic wins an Eisner Award, I rage a little because it is not "Rabbit Head" by Rebecca Dart. It is one of the smartest uses of the comic medium I have ever seen.
"My tree-fort on the internet, where I post my comics and, occasionally, opinions. "
