Celebrate St. Joseph's Day with 'Tavulata'­ di San Giuseppe [$45]

St. Joseph's day is March 19th! We will celebrate either on Monday, the 18th or Tuesday, the 19th. I'm in the process of talking with Giusto from Cacio e Vino Restaurant. As of Feb. 23rd, I've decided to have the dinner on Tuesday, March 19th! The price is $45 which includes tax, gratuity and wine! Menu to follow next week. On March 9th, the menu was sent to me. See below.



- maccu con crostini e salsiccia (fava beans with sausage on crostino bread)

- caponata con panelle


- bucatini with sardines

- spaghetti with fried zucchine, mint and pecorino siciliano

Main Courses

- involtini di pollo alla siciliana

- salmon with capers tomatoes and green olives


- sfinci di san giuseppe con ricotta e vanillia cream

    The "tavulata di San Giuseppe" was great fun. The food was wonderful. The chef did marvels with "la cucina povera", and the company, as always, was great. Yes, the evening was really long, especially for a week night. We didn't have to worry about getting up to go to work, but we felt sorry for those who did. Getting all those varied dishes out to so many people could not have been easy, though. Many thanks to Giusto and his staff for all their effort--and, of course, to Vinnie and also Allison.

    It was great, but I wish they would had started serving the food at 7:30 pm when it began rather than 8:20pm. It makes it hard on people like me who live out of Manhattan to stay the whole time and be able to have all the food without getting home long after midnight.
