Yes, I've been to Sicily on more than one occasion. I have relatives there in Palermo, Mussomeli, and Villarosa.
Yes, I speak Italian fluently and can understand Sicilian (thanks to my nonna materna).
My favorite memory is growing up close to my nonna materna, Carmela, here in NYC, and getting to meet my Mom's side of the family in Sicily for the first time in 1971.
I'm interested in all things Sicilian: language, history, food, etc.
Love Sicilian food and wine. My nonna was a fabulous cook. I miss so many things that she used to prepare, especially her pasta con le sarde! :)
Ciao a tutti! My name is Tom, a retired NYC teacher with an M.A. degree in Italian Language and Literature. I am Sicilian-American (on my mother's side) and I enjoy all things Italian! Hope to meet many of you soon...! Ciao, e a presto!
Such an enjoyable group!
