Sierra Club Outing Leader Training (OLT 101)-A Denver Metro Network Event

This is a training to become a certified Sierra Club Outing Leader.  In order to attend training you must:

• Be a current Sierra Club member

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Be certified in CPR and first aid

This training is the first step to becoming a certified Leader.  You must also complete two co-lead outings with a current certified Leader.  After receiving two positive evaluations and completing this training you will be a certified Sierra Club Outing Leader.  This certification lasts for 4 years.

This particular training is only for OLT 101 which is limited to day hikes and easier excursions.  This training does not qualify you to lead overnight outings, outings that require specific training and gear (i.e. kayak trips, rock climbing), youth outings, or outings outside of the state of Colorado.  For people who may be interested in leading the above types of outings, please leave a comment on this page or email me through Meetup and I will contact you directly with more information.

For people who need to get their first aid and CPR certification, please visit this site and register for an upcoming class: Classes are 4 hours in duration and cost $65 (Sierra Club does not reimburse for the costs of certification).  Certification is valid for two years.

We will meet at the Lookout Mountain Nature Center parking lot at 9am.  Here is the website to the Nature Center which has a map: I have scheduled the training for three hours, but it may take less time depending on how many people we have attending.  This training will be rescheduled if there is severe weather.

If you are interested in becoming a leader and you are unable to attend this training, there will be one last training scheduled in 2014 sometime in September (TBD).  Please contact me if you have any additional questions and/or concerns.

Just a note that we will meet at the picnic tables just to the right of the Nature Center (when facing the Nature Center). Looking forward to seeing you both.

I am going to do my First aid/CPR on 17th but would like a refresher. I took earlier this year but have not had a chance to do anything yet due to new job but need some of the information again so I can move forward. Thanks

Just a reminder to bring your current CPR/first aid card and your current Sierra Club membership card (or receipt if your card has not arrived yet) to this training so I can mark those things off my list. See you in May!

Diana, they are actually having a membership sale right now, so you can go to this link: https://secure.sierrac... and memberships are starting at just $15. It is for a limited time though, so I'd jump on it. Excited to have you on board!
