Hike & Write Event Spring-A Denver Metro Network Event

This is our fourth Hike and Write Event!  Come join us and pen some fabulous poetry or prose as you take in the beauty and splendor of your surroundings.

I, Colleen Finnerty, shall be your fearless Sierra Club leader and contact person for this outing (as always, I do not own a cell phone, so please contact me via Meetup prior to 7:30am the day of the hike if you have any questions), but our guide will be Dr. Richard F. Fleck. Dr. Fleck is a former seasonal park ranger, naturalist, and professor of American literature and environmental writing.  He is the author of a number of books including the latest Desert Rims to Mountains High (Portland: West Winds Press, September 4, 2013).

This hike takes place in Alderfer Three Sisters Park and will be approximately 3 miles round trip.  We will hike along the trail for awhile until our first writing stop; we will have at least two writing stops throughout the day.  The poetic device which will be the focus of our outing is Chiaroscuro Poetry which will be explained at the trailhead with examples given at the writing stops.  You can access directions and trail map at this link:

Remember to bring the following:

• Backpack with writing tablet and pen/pencil

• 1 quart of water

• Energy snack

• Sunscreen

• Extra layers just in case (in Colorado anything can happen!)

• Hat

Come join us for a fun outdoorsy and creative activity!

***As with all DMN Sierra Club events a $5 donation is recommended but certainly not required.  This money helps the DMN maintain the high quality you have come to expect from our outings.***

Ugh, got caught in the deluge in Colorado Springs last night. Had to turn around on I-25 to wait in out. Got home at 2AM, so getting up early this morning was an no-go. Will be at the next one.
