Young Sierrans, ages 18 through 35 are welcome to join in on this exciting adventure. This activity is capped at 8 people. We will be staying at the Green River Campground on the Utah side of the monument. This campground has over 80 sites, many on a first-come first-serve basis. The goal would be to leave the Front Range around 1 pm on Friday, August 29th. The commute to the campground will take an estimated 5.5 hours from Denver.

Dinosaur National Monument offers a wide variety of activities to participate in while visiting. We will be touring the Quarry Exhibit Hall, along with daily hiking and exploring to many of the monuments special places. Dinosaur has a multitude of trails to explore and enjoy. From Rainbow Park to Jones Hole and Echo Park. The monument offers a ton of trails to explore. The trip will be over the course of Labor Day weekend (Friday through Monday). We will be camping in the Green River Campground, hopefully site 80, which is really close to the Green River will be avaliable.
Friday: Depart from a designated carpool location at 1:30 pm and travel to Dinosaur National Monument. We will set up camp upon arrival and will have either gotten dinner along the way or you will be able to make your own dinner.
Saturday: We will start the day early and head to the visitor center where we will get a good briefing on any last minute changes in trail conditions and any other last minute pernant information before heading out on our morning hike. The hikes we will be doing are to be determined, based on participant input before the start of the trip. Check out the hiking page. There are many beautiful hikes to chose from, can't go to wrong on many of them. At the end of our day hike, we will return to the visitor center and take the shuttle up to the Quarry Exhibit Hall to explore the history of the dinosaurs that used to walk the grounds we hiked on during the day.
Sunday: We will continue exploring the majestic monument with additional day hikes within the park and really exploring the history, culture, and beauty of this area. We will plan to be out all day away from our campsite exploring the monument.
Costs: We will split the camping fee of $36 ($4.5 per person) and you are asked to help with any carpooling fuel costs if the drivers. We suggest $0.10 per mile, but the driver and carpooler can make prior arrangements. We will help set up carpool arrangements ahead of time.
Sign-up Restrictions: You must be in good physical condition to attend this trip as some of the hikes will be pretty moderate, especially with any heat.
Bring: 10 essentials, camping gear, water containers that can hold up to 2 quarts of water, food, snacks.
Carpool: We will help make carpool arrangements as easy as possible for participants.
The weather in Dinosaur National Monument can be hot during the summer months and hikng will require at least 2 quartz of water per person when out hiking on the trails to be sure everyone has enough water for the duration of the hike.
