Good stuff. I thought for sure there wasn't going to be any ice that I brought my rock shoes. Not only was I wrong but the ice was perfect and kelvin did some awesome planning to ditch the crowds. A holiday weekend and we owned the ice. I'm already checking out some new crampons and ice tools for our next trip.

Great job putting this together, Kelvin! Had a great time with better-than/expected ice and a fun group of people.

Epic trip! This comment from June Lake ice climbing legend of 30 years, Doug Nidever, who was there, pretty much sums up the ice at Roadside in June Lake. "This is the some of the best ice I have ever seen here". I can't get this trip out of my head. It was that good. Great people and a great leader. Kelvin did an outstanding job and worked his ass off. Thank you. My only question is: When are we doing it again?

Brian, Leath and anyone coming from NorCal, what are your thoughts on carpooling? We could meet in our usual spot in Folsom or whatever's convenient.

    January 10, 2014

  • Kelvin N.

    Hi all,
Ice climbing team is set! Sorry, we couldn't add everyone.
Since the trip is over a week away, let's discuss logistics.

There are 4 climbers from SoCal and 4 climbers from NoCal. Let's carpool if we can since the condo has limiting parking. Hopefully we can fit into 2-4 cars. Whoever decides to drive, make sure you have snow chains..

As for me, I am hoping to leave around 6pm on Friday. Hope to arrive at condo around 11pm. For the returning trip, either leaving Sunday after climbing or early Monday at 5am. Hope to be back on time for work. If this sounds good with SoCal folks, than let's carpool.

In terms of gear, I have a pair of ice tools. Anyone else have ice tools. Let me know if you do not have a pair of crampons?

    Best, Kelvin

    January 9, 2014

    • Kelvin N.

George, Great! Bring your tools and crampons. We have ropes and gear set! I should have enough to set up a few top ropes. If you have any long webbing, we can use a few of those. In case we need to sling natural anchors.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
