Announcing a new Meetup for Sierra Mountaineering Group!

What: Ascent of Mt. San Jacinto 10,834

When: Saturday, December 18,[masked]:00 AM

Where: San Jacinto Ranger District Office
54270 Pine Crest Drive
Idyllwild, CA 92549

Hey all - I just got a last minute opportunity to climb Mt. San Jacinto tomorrow. This is one of the tallest mountains in S. Cal and has more promininence than all but 5 moutains in the US - the north side for example rises from near sea level to over 10K. I will be taking advantage of the bad weather that cancelled work to ascend it from the south in boots / snowshoes. It will be raining and probably snowing up higher. I am hoping to catch a break in the clouds so I can see the view! If you are like me and have to climb in storms - or perhaps you enjoy that sort of thing, perhaps you would like to come along.
If you are interested in climbing it with me please RSVP ASAP and also call me on my call (916) 832-1484. I am leaving San Diego tomorrow morning very early and will meet any interested parties at the at 7am at San Bernardino Forest Service office in Idyllwild at 54270 Pinecrest Rd, which is on the north end of town just off the 243 highway.
Bring all the gear you would need for a snowhoeing / hiking trip in the rain.
Climb on!
