Hiking Glen Echo and the C&O Canal

  • April 13, 2014 · 9:30 AM

EASY: Enjoy a April morning walk on the C&O Canal. From Glen Echo Park, we will hike west on the C&O Canal to the Potomac Conservancy's River Center at Lockhouse 8. After visiting the Potomac Center, our return brings us back down the C&O Canal towpath past the Cabin John Aqueduct. Total distance: 4 miles. After the hike, enjoy the sights and sounds of Glen Echo Park. Once a legendary amusement park, Glen Echo is now a major arts and special events center. Nearby is the home of American Red Cross founder Clara Barton. This remarkable women's home is preserved as a national historic site.

Where to Meet: Meet at 9:30 AM at the parking lot of Glen Echo Park near MacArthur Boulevard.

Leaders: Carol Ivory, Christine Ford, and Glenn Gillis 571/[masked] cell.
