Re: [ruby-99] Google bets on Roo/SpringSource for cloud rapid development

I was at GOOGLE IO and attended many of the GAE sessions. I'm also a GOG (groovy on grails) user on GAE.

As for google and what they are focusing on. They are not focusing on anything outside of mobile now and they don't seem to have a long-term strategy either. Just take a look at all the stuff that has come out of google in the past few years. It almost feels like a shotgun approach.
So it might be ROO today, and something else tomorrow. The point is, don't bet your company on what google might be focusing on today, as they are over-stretching with too many half-baked initiatives.

I know that Google supports Grails on the app engine but this announcement seems to indicate Google is putting a big push behind this technology for rapid development cloud based computing.

Are you saying Google is pushing Grails? I'm not seeing anything
like that in either of those announcements you cite.

Maybe you can restate your idea?
