I haven't tried DH + Passenger yet, I"m still running with the mongrel
(one instance only) setup on VPS...don't bother with this route.

If I recall correctly, there was a way to get rails + passenger w/o
upgrading to Dreamhost PS (Private Server). Go that route, as you are
saying.

Be careful too, they tend to move customers around and what was
installed on one server may not be on another. They are pretty
responsive however, when troubles arise.

I have an app on slicehost (again mongrel cluster+apache) but it keeps
going down and the box constantly runs out of memory. I will read
through some of the links in this thread and get going with Passenger,
as everyone I talk to says that is the easiest way to run a rails app.
