  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • In addition to once a month meetups, I'm also thinking of a theme per session. Examples:

    * a day of co-op games
    * party game day
    * real time games (eg, Space Alert)
    * Dominion day

    etc. Any thoughts?

    Anyone played Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator?

    It's a Starship Bridge Sim where you play it on a LAN with multiple PC's. Each player is a position on a ship like Navigation, Engineering, Weapons, Communications, and Science. There is a player who is the Captain and has to give orders as well. One PC/Laptop can be plugged into a big TV and be used as a mainscreen, I usually have the Communications officer in charge of manipulating the viewscreen's different views.

    You play through different scenarios and there is a scenario creator not to mention community created scenarios.

    The game also had multiplayer with teams on different ships. I've done this before at my place where we had two captains and people playing more than one role as you can run multiple tabs of the game on the same computer, it's not too hardware intensive.

    This game is really fun and intense.

    I have a copy of the game which the DEV says you can install up to 5 but there's no DRM.

    I like this idea as it encourages variety and i love discovering new games... in addition to topical days (Pirate games/ train games/ space games/ war games) we could also perhaps do games by a specific game maker (the person behind the game) or publisher....

    other "themes" might be - This year from Essen
    - Games from Kickstarter

    If only there were enough good pirate games to have a pirate-themed day. (Are you listening, designers?) ;)

    Co-ops could work, although we may want to select the games carefully, since co-ops vary wildly in how long they play (i.e., some will let players get in a few games, and others are all-day affairs)

    Real-time games would be interesting. I've never played one, unless you count Galaxy Trucker. Space Alert sounds interesting, though, and I've been wanting to try out Time & Space.

    I haven't played Resistance yet, but I've been wanting to. What would be the theme of a day that includes Resistance? (i.e., that would involve more games than just Resistance and Werewolf?)

    pirates. Arrrr! I may give co-ops another shot depending on who plays on my team.

    In a meetup group I previously organized, I had a bit of success with getting a small group together to play D&D: Castle Ravenloft. Dungeon crawlers are involved enough to make a good theme of their own.
