This is a purely social event. This annual event was started by the New York Culture Club and the New York Museum Club in 2007.

Although we're in New York City - or rather, *because* we're in New York City - we are fortunate to be able to experience a nearly authentic "Hong Kong Dim Sum" experience in our own Chinatown. If you haven't been to Dim Sum yet, this will be a fun new experience for you! If you have been to Dim Sum before, and you know of Jing Fong, then you've come as close to an authentic "Hong Kong Dim Sum" experience as you can outside of Hong Kong! (The only other US city that comes close to rivaling us in this abundance of Chinese cuisine availability is San Francisco, where the first Chinese immigrants arrived at the turn of the 18th century.)

What's an authentic "Hong Kong Dim Sum" experience like? Take a peek at one writer's experience:
Hong Kong Dim Sum Restaurants It can be loud, crowded, and quite an experience. Bring your Anthony Bourdain/ Andrew Zimmern approach to cuisine.

On FEB. 13th, SATURDAY, the day before Chinese New Year's Day, we'll be celebrating the arrival of the Year of the Tiger. Wondering what sign you are and what Chinese astrology forsees for you in 2010? your Chinese zodiac sign

Looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year of the Tiger together! This is a very good year for new beginnings. We have a lot to look forward to!

I'll be making arrangements with Jing Fong to accomodate us. We need to be seated together & the restaurant will be accomodating our group so be considerate to the rest of us & don't come late!
We have a VERY LARGE GROUP & a lot of people will be coming to dim sum -- so please please be thoughtful & DO NOT BE LATE!!!
COME ON TIME or come early!! If you come late, & there's still a seat for you, don't complain that you don't want to pay your share of the split bill.
Everyone MUST adhere to the honor system - you MUST contribute your share of the meal cost, including tax & tip & $2 for the meetup group fee. Every table splits the cost of their table's check. I'll be appointing one person per table to manage the cash. Dim sum is very inexpensive!
When you come up the escalator, ask for Angelina Jao's section.
