July 4th Explosive Party: BIG-HEAD TODD + 10,000 MANIACS, Fireworks, Food & Fun!

  • Jul 4, 2014 · 4:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Our fourth consecutive year at the most well-presented Independence Day Celebration anywhere around, THIS is documented as the biggest fireworks display on the North Shore, preceded by a killer local festival right near downtown Lake Forest! We've learned this is IT for July 4th Events: IT'S THE BEST OF THE BEST! The Party Park allows you to bring in your own coolers, drinks, food, sparklers, lawn chairs, tables, etc. (like Ravinia). BRING A MUNCHIE TO SHARE, AND IF YOU HAVE A PORTABLE TABLE, PLEASE BRING IT!

The first of tonight's TWO awesome bands is the infamous "10,000 MANIACS," with big hits like "Because the Night," "These Are Days," "Hey Jack Kerouac," "What's the Matter Here?" and many more! The headliner band is "BIG HEAD TODD AND THE MONSTERS," with lots of crowd favorites including "Bittersweet," "Boom Boom," "Broken Hearted Savior," and more! BOTH bands guarantee one thing: A MAJOR PARTY ATMOSPHERE!

Tickets are $15 ($10 for Lake Forest/Lake Bluff residents), and last year I got permission (due to our huge group of 90+) to just go ahead and pay the $10 resident rate. You can purchase tickets in advance LIVE now by stopping by 400 Hastings Road, Lake Forest,[masked] OR live at the gate.

If you arrive at 4:30pm when I suggest, there is basically ZERO line to purchase them on the spot. Later on? There may be, so just arrive when best you can, join us, and pay our $3 Event Fee once you arrive. I provide our plates, cutlery, cups, napkins, serving utensils, clean-up, all tables I have, nametags, signs...and, of course, hugs all around!

Here's the itinerary for this Event:

4:30pm: Meet outside entrance to field
5pm: Field opens; we score a great spot and set up!
5-6pm: Visit the booths for games, food, vendors, giveaways, fun! Chill with our own drinks and munchies with Single Friends!
6pm: Live music by 10,000 MANIACS
8pm: BIG HEAD TODD AND THE MONSTERS
9:40pm: Incredible fireworks show, set to patriotic music

Immediate parking has a $20 charge, which many of us took advantage of by carpooling in groups of 3 and 4, but walking about 6 or 7 blocks (about 1/2 mile) can help you park free. The BEST option for that is at the Lake Forest Train Station at Deerpath and Western Avenue. Also watch for city free lot signs, and very occasional downtown curb parking as well.

This event is HUGELY popular; get there as close to 4:30pm as you possibly can...to save space inside AND TO PARK MUCH CLOSER AND MORE EASILY! We'll set up and reserve our space for the entire evening. I will have brightly colored signs on posts, with arrows pointing to our location...but look for the very tall yellow Happy Face helium balloon. If you cannot find us, CALL MY CELL PHONE at[masked] and I'll be your temporary GPS gal.

Here are directions to the Park: From Rt. 41 or 43, exit on Deerpath, go east to Hastings Road, turn right and follow the road to the field behind Deerpath School...OR take Greenbay Road to Deerpath, go west to Hastings Road, turn left and follow the road to the field behind Deerpath School.

This will be a GREAT party night, well-executed, where we just drench ourselves in all the vibes already planned, and help celebrate our wonderful country's 238th birthday! Please RSVP first, bring a lawn chair, and join us for an EXPLOSIVE night! Oooh--aaaaaaahhhhhh!

Right now I'm making my world-famous (in my mind ha ha) fresh Guacamole and I'll bring some chips. If anyone needs help moving their tables, just left me know - find me or whatever. I'll certainly help move them from/to your vehicle.

I've been listening to Big Todd for years. It was awesome to see the band in concert, and get some dancing in to boot!. Lake Forest really does pull out all the stops for the Fourth of July celebration.

My dog (one of my three rescues), Trixie is half Min Pin (miniature Doberman Pinscher) and half Chihuahua. Sometime we have to get Trixie and Siggy together for a halfway family reunion!

Andrea, your darling little dog was so sweet. When you walked away for just a little bit, I watched him and he was, oh my god, just dying to see Mom again at any time soon! I lifted him up and held him for a few minutes to calm him down a bit, but all he wanted was MOM! Thanks for sharing him with us!
